La Forestella is an Umbrian estate house,
recently restored to a very high standard for
year round comfort. Every bedroom has its
own en-suite bath and custom beds and
linen sheets are used in all rooms. The
picturesque villa is set on 17 acres of rolling
meadows and woodlands, and is situated 16
kms. from the historic hill town of Orvieto.
MAIN HOUSE
Ground Floor: The main house of the villa is
divided from the attached casetta by a stone
staircase, and is accessed by a wide courtyard
on its north side. The southern front of the
house is graced by an arched wisteria
covered pergola, accessing a lawn that is
flanked by laurels and mature olive trees,
converging on a vista of cypresses and
centenary oak trees. The ground floor is
comprised of an entry patio, leading to the
entrance hall, with at its right, a sun filled
library with antique fireplace. A stone central
staircase leads from the hall to the upper two
floors. A half bath is off of the hallway, as is
the laundry room with a heavy duty washer
and dryer. From the hall, wide oak floors lead
to the living room, decorated with family
antiques and a magnificent peperino
fireplace. The room is 20 x 45 ft. and is
awash in the light from the southern
windows and central French doors leading
to the front lawn. Directly adjacent to the
living room is the dining room and the all
stainless designer kitchen, fully equipped
with fridge / freezer, dishwasher, and
gourmet gas stove and oversized oven. A
Whirlpool electric oven completes the
equipment.
First Floor: Master double bedroom with
en-suite bath - Double bedroom with en-
suite bath. Both have Duravit and Phillipe
Starck fixtures.
Second Floor: Four double bedrooms with
en-suite baths with Duravit and Phillipe
Starck fixtures. All of these bedrooms have

CASSETTA
The attached wing of the villa is divided
from the main house by a stone staircase,
and has its own private entrance, terrace and
pergola. The ground floor has a beautiful
new kitchen, with living and dining areas
plus a full bath with shower. The kitchen is
equipped with a stainless steel gas stove with
oven, dishwasher washing machine and full
sized fridge. The first floor has a double
bedroom with en-suite bath and a twin
bedroom with en-suite bath. Each bath is
outfitted with Duravit and Philippe Starck
fixtures.
Outside, is a large 20x 60 ft. swimming pool,
set amongst olive terraces, with lovely views
of the surrounding countryside. Grass and
stone terraces frame the pool area and a wide
pergola by its side offers shade.
Maid service is provided six days a week. A
cook is available at extra cost. Cooking
lessons, wine tastings, as well as art, history
and garden tours can be arranged and
tailored to suit a group traveling together.
La Forestella is ideally situated for visiting
the towns and villages of Tuscany and
Umbria. Orvieto's train station, with its fast
trains to Rome and Florence is 20 minutes
away, as is the Autostrada. The Via Cassia,
the old Roman road (10 min. away) takes
one to Siena, passing the famous wine
centers of Montalcino and Montepulciano,
through some of the most beautiful unspoiled
parts of Tuscany. One can visit the chain of
towns in Umbria, like Todi (1/2 hr.) Spoleto
(1 hr.) and Perugia (1.5 hrs.), steeped in
history and culture, centers of art and
gastronomy, or simply wander through the
open air markets stopping for coffee or
lunch under a shady pergola.
Five minutes away from the villa one can
pick up the SS 74, which winds through the
southernmost parts of Tuscany, past pristine
villages all the way to the sea, and Porto
Ercole, and Porto Santo Stefano, with ferries
to the islands of Giglio and Elba.
Lake Bolsena, the largest volcanic lake in
Italy, with its charming medieval town of
Bolsena is 5 kms. from the villa. Bagnoregio
and Civita di Bagnoregio is 6 kms. as is the
village of Lubriano.
