Villa La Querce, with over 9000 sq. ft. of
living space, is surrounded by vineyards and
olive groves in the hills of the Florentine
Chianti. It is located off of the road that
connects Bagnolo to Impruneta. Impruneta
is known for its terracotta tiles and pottery.
The estate has made its reputation from the
quality of its wine and extra virgin olive oil,
and a great deal of interest has been paid to
the historical and architecture. The villa,
dating to the 1300's, is dominated by a
stately tower. The origin of the property
dates back even further. A document dated
1042 reports the sale of a "house with land
and vineyards" in this area, indicating
without doubt the antiquity of the
cultivation of vineyards in the region.
During WW II, the villa was occupied by
the Germans, who cut down the enormous
oak tree that gave the name to the property.
Guests at the villa can enjoy the beautiful
and peaceful garden, with abundant olive
groves, laurel hedges and a fantastic lawn,
perfect for children to play on. There are
two living areas of the garden. One is the
terracotta terrace in front of the villa, with
two arcades where it is possible to dine or
relax in the shade. A huge fig tree
guarantees shadows and coolness in the
hottest of months. There is plenty of
outdoor furniture for the use of the guests.
The other area is in front of the entrance
hall on the ground floor. Here ,there is a
square garden with a large oak tree, where
one can enjoy breakfast in the freshness
of the morning or have a relaxing apertivo
at sunset, or have an informal dinner
prepared by Grace, the villa's cook.
Laurel hedges surround the pool for
privacy.
