Le Fontanine is an exquisite property,
centrally located - only 10 minutes from the
historical center of Florence, on a hill of the
"Poggio Imperiale", surrounded by olive
groves, gardens and fruit trees. It is part of
an estate, which, from 1737 - 1860 was the
residence of the Lorena family, the Austrian
Grand Duke of Tuscany, and the Arcetri
Observatory, where Galileo continued his
astronomical research after being called to
Florence in 1610 by Cosimo II dei Medici.
Le Fontanine dates back to the 16th century,
when it consisted of two buildings. Around
1940 the two buildings were joined, giving
the villa its current architectural shape. The
property is completely independent and
occupies the ground floor of the two joined
buildings.
