La Pietra is located just outside of
Cortona near the village of Montanare.
A 10 minute drive up a dirt road takes
you up into the mountains. When you
arrive, you see the spectacular vistas

stone farmhouse built in the Tuscan
tradition. It has been beautifully

filled with wonderful antiques and

been opened up to bring in more light.
It is set in the midst of well tended
gardens.
The house was once owned by the
prominent feminist scholar Germaine
Greer, and her touch is evident in the
lovely English gardens and in the books
she left behind. The grounds are
spectacular and extensive and include a
private vegetable garden, swimming
pool with fabulous views, large
expanses of lawn and mature trees, and
numerous terraces for sitting or dining
al fresco.
