Il Borgo, an estate of 2500 acres, is located
in the Valdarno, one of the most beautiful
and historically important parts of Tuscany
and is 35 kms. from Florence. The estate is
at an altitude from between 1300 and 2900
ft. of altitude, on the crest of mountains.
The residential part, a convent dating back to
the late 17th century, and subsequently
transformed into a farm, is surrounded by
extensive olive groves, bordering on
woodlands, also part of the property,
characterized by the presence of water
springs and varied flora and fauna. Il Borgo
is five residences comprising apartments,
cottages and a private villa, which have all
undergone a careful restoration, bringing
charm and maximum comfort to the old
areas of the farm. All of them are located
around the old village square, the center of
daily life, and today a meeting place for
guests. Among these residences , just one,
Magnolie, is an independent villa,
overlooking the park and olive groves,
while the others - the apartments of the
village - have been built from the pre-
existing productive and living structures
overlooking the square. The apartments are
furnished with antique family furniture,
carefully combined with designer elements.
Some of the latter have been designed by
the owner, an important Italian architect, to
lend personality and functionality to the
apartments. The guests at Il Borgo can
enjoy common areas such as the
multimedia library, the theatre, the wine
bar and the billiard room as well as the
sports facilities such as the swimming pool.
The most fascinating areas of the old farm
are destined for the entertainment and
leisure structures. Situated between the
apartments and the olive press, the library
and theatre represent an opportunity for
the guests of Il Borgo to meet, enjoy a
little culture and relax among a wide range
of books and magazines, together with the
areas for reading, talking, games and shows.
The theatre and indoor areas are set up to
host artistic and musical events, meetings,
and conferences. Outdoors, a number of
paths lead through the wonderful private
nature preserve. In the areas closer to the
Borgo are a pavilion, on the borders of a
small lake, where a lunch or moonlight
dinner can be held. As in the past, the
productive structures of Il Borgo carries on
the meticulous work of transforming the
crops grown on the estate, where the extra
virgin olive oil produced is considered a
top quality oil.
NOCCIOLINA - Sleeps 4
This residence is part of the eastern side of
the village square, marking its perimeter.
The building, made of stone and brick, is
dominated by a large walnut tree
overhanging the loggia. A private garden of
5000 sq. ft. belongs to Nocciolina. Thanks
to an external ramp, Nocciolina could be
easily accessed by people in wheelchairs -
1000 sq. ft.

ULIVO - Sleeps 6
A stone wall, a wooden truss and a wrought
iron gate delineates the small private garden
of this large house, which faces the square
of the Borgo from the ancient buttressed
rampart. As in traditional country houses in
Tuscany, the two floors are connected by
both an external and internal staircase -
2100 sq. ft.

NOCE - Sleeps 8
This two story residence is part of one of the
oldest houses in the village of the Borgo. The
house, which has central heating and all of
the mod cons, can be lived in all year round -
2000 sq. ft.

An ancient pedestrian stone bridge connects
the private park to the living room of this
residence located on the first floor; which is
composed of a study, a large kitchen with
fireplace, a loggia created from an ancient
tower and a bedroom with a bath and terrace.
A grey stone staircase leads to the ground
floor, which consists of another living room
as well as two bedrooms with en-suite baths.
