A much loved family home, Casetta
di Pian di Goro stands on a tranquil
hillside in 25 acres of land in the
Parco Artistico Naturale e Culturale
of the Val d'Orcia. The countryside
in this unspoiled part of southern
Tuscany is outstandingly beautiful
and the 270 degree views from the
house, gardens, and pool are truly
superb, including Monte Cetona to
the east, Monte Amiata to the west
and the medieval hill towns of Celle
sul Rigo and San Casciano dei Bagni,
with its newly re-opened Fonte Verde
Spa and Hotel. This comfortable,
welcoming house exudes peace and
calm and is a perfect place to unwind.
The restoration was done to a very
high standard with the greatest
attention to detail, including hand
made terracotta floor tiles, color
washed walls, comfortable antique
furniture and good lighting. The
wrought iron beds are all individually
made by a local artisan. The
bedrooms have spacious antique
wardrobes and all of the baths are
well equipped with excellent power
showers. During the winter, cozy
evenings can be spent either by the
fireplace downstairs or by the wood
burning stove in the upstairs sitting
room. Leading from the large kitchen /
dining room is a spacious terrace
where meals can be enjoyed under the
shade of two oak trees. Charming
gardens surround the house including
a formal Italian garden which leads
through the arched hedges to the
landscaped pool. With superb views
within a formal hedged rose garden,
the pool is surrounded by hand made
terracotta paving bricks which
provides plenty of space for
sunbathing or lazing on the teak
sunbeds and steamer chairs while large
umbrellas provide ample shade. This
delightful estate includes olive groves,
open fields and woods and the area is
full of wildlife.
