Located amidst the rolling hills of the Val
d’Orcia, made famous in the film “The
English Patient”, Casa Stefani has been
carefully restored over the past year. The
owners have taken great care to preserve as
many of the original details as possible,
from the massive wooden beams to the
terracotta and terrazzo floors. Being in the
southern part of Siena province, there is
close proximity to the famous hill towns of
Pienza, Montepulciano and Montalcino,
made famous for their Brunello and Vino
Nobile wines. Also nearby is the Fonte
Verde Spa in San Casciano dei Bagni with
its hot thermal baths and a complete range of
spa treatments. The immediate area has many
walking and bike paths, country roads lined
with cypress trees and there is easy access to
nearby towns with their fresh markets and
dozens of fine restaurants within a 30 minute
drive. For those wishing to go to Rome or
Florence for a day trip, one can catch the
high speed train in Chiusi, about 30 minutes
away.
Set in an open position in the midst of wheat
fields, Casa Stefani is a very large house with
living space on three floors. In front on the
house is a walled-in barnyard that connects
the covered outside dining area and living
space to the main house. Flowering vines and
climbing roses cover these walls and just
outside is the large swimming pool, complete
with pool furniture and views over the valley.
The interior of the house has been finished
with high quality fabrics and furniture,
featuring many antique and period pieces. The
large chef’s kitchen is a dream for any foodie
who enjoys cooking. If you prefer, a cook can
be hired to prepare dinners on any night. Also
on the ground floor, is the cantina of the house,
where wine and olive oil are made and stored.

windows in the house, where you can see for
miles across the valley
