Located just outside of the small
village of Piazze, PODERE FALLERINI sits
on a hillside overlooking the valley
below, with panoramic views.
Recently restored to a very high
standard, the owners have spared
no expense to create a wonderfully
comfortable retreat in rustic
Tuscan style. This is a real home
with lots of books, jigsaw puzzles
and music. Originally this was
five small farmer's cottages that
have been combined to make a
home where one room just flows
into the next. At the lower end of
the house, a new three story
addition was added, giving an
atrium feel of height and space. The
interiors were conceived by a well
known Italian designer and the
house has been featured in
Architectural Digest. There is also a
whole chapter on Podere Fallerini in
Tricia Guild's book Painted Country.
Outside, there are several sitting areas
for dining al fresco, or just relaxing
and enjoying the view. Around the
English herb garden, bordered in box,
there is an outside dining area under a
vine covered pergola as well as one in
the open, for those who like to eat in
the sun. Outside of the two story
living room, is a covered portico area
with views of the valley in the distance.
During the summer, there are roses to
be cut for the table and there are
marvelous walks all around. There are
wild animals to be seen and the local
otters have been know to frequent the
pool.
Besides the wonderful views, Casa
Ranieri is also in a great location for
exploring Tuscany and Umbria, with
the Autostrada exit not far away. Also,
you are close to San Casciano dei
Bagni, where the luxurious Fonte Verde
spa has just re-opened, with hot
thermal baths and all of the spa
treatments people have come to enjoy.
Also nearby, is a fabulous factory
outlet where one can buy Gucci, Prada,
Fendi and other well known brands at
substantial savings. For travel to
Florence or Rome, the train station at
Chiusi is twenty minutes away
