This beautiful farmhouse is at the center of
an agricultural estate that produces
excellent Chianti Classico wine and extra
virgin olive oil. The farmhouse dates back
to Etruscan times when the entire estate
was an important Etruscan settlement.
Traces of the original Etruscan plans can
still be found today, mainly in the hamlet
and in the owner's villa. The estate has
been in the family of the current owners for
many generations and dominates several
hills and corresponding valleys that are
planted with vineyards and olives. Casa
Fermentini was completely restored in
1998 with a careful eye to maintaining the
typicity of Tuscan architecture intact with
wooden beams, terracotta floors, and
whitewashed walls, while adding the most
modern amenities. The house has its own
private garden space and a private 20x 40 ft.
swimming pool. and is surrounded by olive
trees. The owner lives in a separate
farmhouse not far from Fermentini, and is
available to assist guests in planning
itineraries and buying estate products.
Behind the farmhouse are the wine cellars
and a parking lot for the guests. From the
rear of the house, a short flight of stairs
leads to the private furnished courtyard and
garden, which is ideal for al fresco dining
while gazing at the panoramica. In the
courtyard is a guest house - Casa del
Guardia. The farmhouse is set into the side
of a hill so it develops on different levels.
Private entrance is from the furnished
garden up one step through double glass
doors into the spacious living room with
fireplace, SAT TV, and fax. On the left of
this living room is a stone staircase that
leads to the first floor with bedrooms. An
open archway separates this living room
from a second living room that also opens
to the garden. This opens to the dining
room with luminous crescent shaped
windows. The living / dining comprises
1100 sq. ft.
Through an open passageway is a hall with
three doors. The first opens to a delightful
rustic kitchen with large windows
overlooking the countryside. The next door
opens to the laundry room while the third
is a full bath.
From the first floor landing is a double
bedroom with en-suite bath. Off of a
hallway is a second double bedroom with
en-suite bath. Two twin bedrooms have
en-suite baths while one may have an extra
single bed added on request. Across the
hall is a double bedroom with en-suite bath.
From the hallway, a wooden staircase goes
to the tower with a single bedroom and bath.
Casa del Guardia is reached by an external
staircase in the courtyard that leads up
through a covered loggia directly into the
open plan living / dining room with a
fireplace. Next to the fireplace is a hall
leading to a double bedroom (an additional
bed is available), a twin bedroom where a
third bed can be added, and two full baths.
Both houses are luminous and impeccable
furnished with antiques that blend with the
typical Tuscan furniture. Gas and firewood
are payable on consumption. There is also a
baby cot available.
Staff: Maid service of 4 hours, twice a week.
Extra hours on request. Cook service available.
