A quiet and comfortable retreat at the
edge of the delightful small hamlet of
San Sano, with its restaurants and shops
and within easy reach of Siena and Gaiole.
This comfortable property, consisting of
the main house and guest annex, is often
used by its Genoese owners as a weekend
retreat. It has been featured in Gardenia, a
well known Italian magazine and is ideal
for relaxed living for couples and families
all year round. Built into a hillside, Casa
Daniela is a complete surprise with first
impressions of green lawns, shaded areas,
trees and shrubs surrounding a charming
house of seemingly modest proportions,
yet all combining to make a spacious and
most sought after and attractive holiday
home. The extensive, mature gardens are
complemented by shaded terraces along
the side of the house and underneath the
old oak tree. The guest annex is separated
by a terraced area with a most attractive
entrance and dozens of terracotta pots full
of colorful flowers. The well equipped
kitchen in the main house will appeal to
all of those who love cooking - baskets
and copper pans hanging from the beams.
A charming loggia leads out from the
kitchen, with a pergola covered in vines
for shaded al fresco dining and huge
terracotta pots containing three colors of
hydrangeas. The house is particularly
suitable for cozy living, during inclement
weather, with its very comfortable sitting
area, open fireplace, and a "snug", where
one sinks into comfortable cushions,
Moroccan-style, which surrounds a
banquette area with a circular table in the
middle - ideal for card games or just for
talking into the early hours. The large
swimming pool, located well away from
the house, has an electric cover, making
it particularly suitable for children. There
is also a garden room with a ping pong
table. One of its greater advantages must
be the seclusion and privacy - yet, only
10 minutes walk is an excellent family
run restaurant and local shop, open 6 days
per week from very early to very late. The
owners know the owners of Casa Daniela
well and extend the same hospitality in
welcoming their guests. A highly
recommended and most lived in house,
very suitable to guests who will enjoy
and appreciate this much loved home.
