This is truly a unique house in that it is
located in the external walls of an ancient
walled hamlet. This walled hamlet
dominates the countryside and can be seen
from miles away. Beautiful sunsets can be
seen through the western arch. There is a
hotel, several restaurants and a basic food
shop.
The house was totally renovated and is
bordered on both sides by other buildings,
also set in the walls. The family of the
current owners purchased the house in the
1800's. There is a circular road that runs
around the outer perimeter of the hamlet,
and it is quiet because it is only used by
the residents.
Across this road and facing the house, is
a garden of over an acre with a parking
space and swimming pool. Olive groves,
vineyards and wheat fields surround the
garden with views over the Chianti hills.
There is a covered structure in the garden
that is partly occupied by the gardener
with equipment for maintenance of the
grounds and part for guest use, with
barbeque and table that are ideal on a
summer evening. Across the garden is a
wrought iron gate opening to a pathway
leading up to the house. At the top of the
path is a raised furnished terrace,
overlooking the larger garden below.
The entrance to the house opens to an
open plan living/dining room with SAT
TV and a staircase leading to the first
floor. In the niche, behind the stairs is a
fully equipped kitchen with raised
fireplace for indoor grilling.
At the top of the stairs in a hallway. To
the left is a twin bedroom with en-suite
bath. To the right is a double bedroom
with en-suite bath. At the end of the hall
is the formal living room with a large fireplace. Off of the living room are a double bedroom with a balcony and a twin bedroom, both with en-suite baths. Also off of the living room is a door to steps leading down to the hamlet piazza.
The house is elegantly furnished with beautiful antique pieces and is very comfortable. All of the windows have screens. There is maid service of three hours, three days per week at 110 Euros. The house cannot be rented without the maid. Laundry service is available at 50 Euros per week. Extra linen changes are charged at 10 Euros per person and pool towels can be rented from the maid. There is a cook available who can also organize cooking lessons.
