This is, without doubt, one of the
most beautiful apartments in the
historical center of Lucca. It is on
the ground floor of a noble palace,
and has ceilings decorated with
the original frescoes. Angelo
Custode is also unique in that it
opens directly to a magical internal
garden, one of the very few left in
Lucca that still has the original
terracing decorated with mosaics
and marble masks of the 16th
century. It is under the protection
of the Monuments and Fine Arts
Office for this reason. The use of
the garden is only for the tenants of
this apartment and, when in
residence, for the young son of the
owner, who lives in an apartment
on the opposite side of the garden.
